Severance Silver Knights Take 2nd at Regionals, Send 10 to State! ⚔️🔥

The Severance Varsity Wrestling Team took the 4A Region 4 Tournament by storm, battling through two grueling days of competition to secure a 2nd-place team finish and send 10 wrestlers to the CHSAA State Tournament at Ball Arena next week.

This wasn't just any performance—it was a statement. The Silver Knights stepped up, dominated their matches, and fought through adversity to put the program among the top teams in the region. From regional champions to gutsy wrestlers grinding their way to the podium, this team showed the heart and determination that defines Severance wrestling.


🏆 Regional Champions – Crowning the Kings of 4A Region 4

These Knights stood tall at the top of the podium as Regional Champions, running through their brackets with dominant performances.

113 – Drake VomBaur 🔥

Drake was an absolute machine, pinning his way to the 113-pound regional title. He took out Lukaus Martinez (Skyline) in 3:03, followed by Luke Stuart (Windsor) in 2:53, and then in the finals, he left no doubt, pinning Dominic Pacheco (Thornton) in 4:36. Another tournament win for the Silver Knights' star lightweight as he heads to Ball Arena looking for even more.

Dennis wrestled like a man on a mission, crushing his way through the 126-pound bracket. After a first-round bye, he made quick work of Elijah Maxwell (Palisade) with a 26-second pin, followed by a 3:30 fall over Marco Duran (Hinkley). In the finals, he locked up another pin, taking out Leland Camacho (Northridge) in 1:42 to claim the title and punch his ticket to state in dominant fashion.


🎟️ State Qualifiers – Silver Knights Headed to Denver!

These Knights placed in the top four, securing their spots in Colorado’s biggest wrestling stage—Ball Arena.

106 – Simon Carter 💪

Simon started his run strong, pinning Oliver Beeson (Silver Creek) in under a minute (0:56) and Rene Ornelas Arreola (Northridge) in 1:55. He fought hard in a 10-4 semifinal loss, then bounced back with an 11-5 decision over Denis Nomura (Mesa Ridge) to solidify his spot at state!

120 – Jaxon Felker 🔥

Jaxon opened his tournament with a tech fall (17-1) in 1:37, before running into a tough semifinal match. He battled back strong, pinning Mohammad Sohail Amiri (Gateway) in 2:10, then locked up a dominant 46-second fall over Sean Dammond (Montbello) in the third-place match.

Reed fired through his first three matches, pinning Tripp Karney (0:53), Gibson Even (1:56), and Cason Tool-Rieger (1:45) before falling in the finals to the #1-ranked wrestler in the region. A massive weekend sends Reed to the big stage.

150 – Brody Ridenour 💥

Brody fought through the toughest of brackets, securing two pins (3:23 and 0:52) before running into a tough semifinal loss. He roared back with a dominant tech fall (15-0) over Andrew Zike (Thornton) in the third-place match, proving he belongs in Denver next weekend.

157 – Joshua Abram 🏅

Joshua came out strong, pinning Angel Ortiz (0:41) and Sawyer Koch (1:53) before running into a tough semifinal matchup. He wrestled through a wild consolation bracket, securing a clutch 12-10 decision, then stamped his ticket to state with a 33-second pin over Sebastian Martinez (Lutheran).

165 – Jake Mitchell 🔥

Jake had one of the grittiest runs of the tournament, losing early but rattling off FOUR straight wins by fall to storm back and claim third place. His revenge pin over Angel Perez (Skyline) in the third-place match (4:24) was a statement victory heading into state.

Brody punched his ticket with authority, pinning Jeremiah Armijo-Guerue (Montbello) in 5:20 before winning a 3-2 battle over Carter Davis (Hinkley) in the semis. He was forced to forfeit the finals, but still secures his place at Ball Arena.

George worked through a grinder of a heavyweight bracket, picking up clutch wins in the consolation rounds before scoring a huge 7-2 decision in the fourth-place match to secure his place at state!


🏅 Podium Finishers – Warriors Who Placed at Regionals

These Knights fought hard and finished among the top wrestlers in their weight class, securing 5th and 6th-place podium spots.

  • 175 – Brayden Baker fought through a wild consolation bracket, picking up big wins and a key fall (3:36) in the 5th-place match.



Kelson Gazdik (Jr.) Took 5th in a stacked 190-pound bracket.

  • 190 – Kelson Gazdik battled through a tough weight class, securing big wins and a strong major decision (14-2) to land 5th place.


💙 The Knights Who Fought Hard – A Season to Remember

These Silver Knights put everything on the line, giving their all in an incredibly tough Region 4.

  • 132 – Andre Salinas stepped onto the mat and gave it his all in a stacked weight class. His fight and determination won’t go unnoticed.

  • 138 – Lane Swarts picked up a clutch fall in the first round (3:56) and another key win (1:29), proving he’s a threat every time he wrestles.

With 10 Silver Knights set to battle for State Titles, the focus now shifts to the ultimate test—Ball Arena.
