SOME YOUNG GUNS TOP THE PODIUM, VARSITY TAKES FIFTH PLACE IN TEAM STANDINGS
The Severance High School varsity wrestling team made a significant impact at the Roosevelt Invitational, demonstrating both individual prowess and team cohesion. A detailed breakdown of our podium placing wrestler's performances are as follows below:

106 lbs: Simon Carter (1st Place)
Carter's undefeated run to the championship showcased his dominance. He received a bye in the first round, then swiftly pinned Yaidel Lopez-Nava (Greeley Central) in the quarterfinals (fall 0:24). A hard-fought 5-1 decision over Hudson Link (Roosevelt) in the semifinals set the stage for the final match, where he secured another decisive pin (fall 1:50) against Alexis Melendez (Fort Morgan) to claim first.

106 lbs: Ben Loecke (4th Place)
Loecke began his tournament with a quick victory, pinning Winston Schumacher (Resurrection Christian) in just 3 seconds (fall 0:03). However, he suffered a fall (1:57) against Alexis Melendez (Fort Morgan) in the quarterfinals. Undeterred, he rallied with a pin (2:23) over Dillon Allsman (Timnath) in the consolation round 2, and a technical fall (TF-1.5 2:55, 23-7) over Kash Klingate (Platte Valley) in consolation round 3. A 6-4 decision over Hudson Link (Roosevelt) advanced him to the third-place match, where he ultimately fell to Reidyn Barrazo (Rocky Mountain High School) by fall (3:35), ending his run in fourth place.

113 lbs: Tatum Garcia (2nd Place)
Garcia’s strong performance earned him a second-place finish. He began with a pin (0:19) over Liam Downs (Cheyenne Mountain). In the quarterfinals, he edged out Noah Sanders (Fossil Ridge) by an 8-1 decision, and then defeated Kaleb Wells (Roosevelt) by a 9-3 decision in the semifinals. In the final match, he was defeated by Joseph Vigil (Prairie View) by major decision (13-2) to claim second.

120 lbs: Jaxon Felker (1st Place)
Felker also secured a first-place finish with a series of impressive victories. He pinned Lir Loughlin (Rocky Mountain High School) in 2:50 in the first round. He then pinned Kash Long (Roosevelt) in 2:34 in the quarterfinals. An 8-3 decision against Korbin Hoke (Highland) in the semifinals paved the way to the final, where he secured a decisive 14-9 decision over Cristofer Juan (Fort Morgan) to take the gold.
132 lbs: Dennis Campos (3rd Place)
Campos received a bye in the first round and then recorded a technical fall (TF-1.5 4:36, 16-1) over Darius Masias (Fort Morgan) in the quarterfinals. He was pinned (5:59) by Logan Vannest (Platte Valley) in the semifinals but fought back to win by fall (4:17) over Cole Nunley (Roosevelt) in the consolation semifinals. In the third-place match, he earned an 8-4 decision over Cormac Loughlin (Rocky Mountain High School).
157 lbs: Brody Ridenour (4th Place)
Ridenour received a bye in round 1, followed by a technical fall (TF-1.5 2:25, 15-0) against Sidney King (Fossil Ridge) in the quarterfinals. He was then pinned (3:50) by Ashtyn Meeks (Fort Morgan) in the semifinals. He rebounded with a pin (4:27) over Dean Allsman (Timnath) in consolation round 2 to advance to the third-place match. There, he lost by technical fall (TF-1.5 3:39, 22-3) to Yusuf Muhammad (Rocky Mountain High School).
285 lbs: George Griffenhagen (4th Place)
Griffenhagen received a bye in round 1 and then lost a 1-0 decision to Noah Stratton (Roosevelt) in the quarterfinals. He received byes in both consolation rounds 2 and 3. He won a 5-2 decision over Gunnar Juarez (Timnath) in the consolation semifinals but fell in the third-place match to Noah Stratton (Roosevelt) by a 2-0 decision.
THE JV SQUAD SAW SUCCESS AS WELL
The Severance Junior Varsity wrestling team showcased promising talent and determination at the Roosevelt Invitational as well. While facing tough competition, several wrestlers achieved notable results, and the team as a whole demonstrated a strong sense of unity and sportsmanship.
106 lbs: Kyrin Brodeur (6th Place)
Brodeur's tournament began with a fall (1:28) against Kaden Upchurch (Rock Canyon). He then lost by fall (4:15) to Blake Folger (Wellington). In his third match, he was defeated by major decision (13-5) against Maximus Delio (Rocky Mountain High School). He lost subsequent matches by fall (0:47) to Tyler Paulsen (Fort Morgan) and by fall (3:38) to Isaiah Sprague (Roosevelt).
126 lbs: Noah Abram (3rd Place)
Abram started with a first-round bye, followed by a 3-0 decision loss to Jay Moore (Fort Morgan) in the quarterfinals. He received another bye in consolation round 2. In the consolation round 3, he pinned Zachariah Rivera (Severance High School) in 0:32. He then pinned Isaac Mondragon (Rocky Mountain High School) in 1:42 in the consolation semifinals and finished with a pin (1:10) over Cj Lindblad (Resurrection Christian) to secure third place.
138a lbs: William Barrentine (3rd Place)
Barrentine began with a technical fall (TF 25-7) over Dominic Barajas (Cheyenne Mountain). He then recorded a fall (1:33) against Liam McWilliams (Rocky Mountain High School) in the quarterfinals. He lost in the semifinals by sudden victory (SV-1 12-7) to Landon Renfro (Cheyenne Mountain). He won by fall (4:39) over Aaron Ewing (Fort Morgan) in the consolation semifinals before finishing his run with a fall (3:24) over Liam McWilliams (Rocky Mountain High School) in the third-place match.
150a lbs: Torry Rowell (1st Place)
Rowell started with a pin (0:15) over Will Herms (Rocky Mountain High School). He recorded a major decision (13-1) over Griffin Seager (Rock Canyon) in the quarterfinals, followed by a 9-6 decision over Dalton Thurston (Cheyenne Mountain) in the semifinals. He secured first place with a fall (3:03) against Noah Masters (Rocky Mountain High School) in the final.
157 lbs: Brayden Quinlan (3rd Place)
Quinlan started with a first-round bye and then lost by fall (2:07) to Quintin Aleman (Fort Morgan) in the quarterfinals. He won a 13-8 decision over Fernando Ramirez (Brush) in the consolation round 2, and then recorded a fall (0:23) against Colton Conley (Northfield) in the consolation round 3. In the consolation semifinals, he pinned Jacob Palmer (Rocky Mountain High School) in 4:06 and then secured third place by pinning Charlie Jurgovee (Rocky Mountain High School) in 2:32.
165 lbs: Jonathon Hunt (4th Place)
Hunt had a first-round bye and then recorded a fall (5:06) over Jaxon Wheelock (Roosevelt) in the quarterfinals. He then lost an 8-2 decision to Kanon Shatzel (Rocky Mountain High School) in the semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, he recorded a fall (2:53) against Brody Rust (Rocky Mountain High School) before losing a 9-6 decision to Simon Johnson (Resurrection Christian) in the third-place match.

285 lbs: Brody Vondy (1st Place)
Vondy’s impressive run began with a fall (0:34) over Xavier Maniz (Fort Morgan). He then pinned Kaeden Bonilla (Brush) in 0:47 in the quarterfinals and Brayden Cox (Fort Morgan) in 0:35 in the semifinals. He finished with a fall (0:23) over Liam Hallett (Centaurus) in the championship match to claim first place.
