The Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals, held in Des Moines, Iowa from October 25-27, 2024, is a premier event in the USA Wrestling calendar. It provides high school wrestlers with an invaluable opportunity to showcase their talent before the official folkstyle season begins. This event is also a major recruiting opportunity for college coaches, as athletes from all across the country, including champions and state placers, compete for the chance to be recognized on the national stage in the National Recruiting Showcase.

Drake Vombaur (pictured above) had a phenomenal '23-'24 season, capturing the CHSAA 3A State Championship at 106 pounds.
Attending the event are Severance High School's own Drake Vombaur and Simon Carter.
Vombaur had an awe-inspiring freshman campaign, clinching the Colorado 3A state title at 106 pounds and going undefeated as a freshman. He returns early in this, his sophomore season with high expectations and an opportunity to start the season off with a bang on the national scene.
Meanwhile, Carter, an incoming freshman, is coming off an impressive top 12 finish in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Fargo Nationals. While one match short of All-American status in both disciplines, his performance at Fargo solidifies him as one to watch in the coming high school season.

Simon Carter (Pictured Above) comes into the '24-'25 Season hungry to find a spot on a
great Severance High School Roster.
As both athletes prepare for the Brian Keck Preseason Nationals, they carry with them not only the hopes of their hometown but a hope to continue building the legacy of excellence that defines Severance wrestling. The upcoming event will be a significant test for both Simon and Drake, as they compete against the best in the nation, aiming to add some early national level success to they're '24-'25 season.
